Company: History

The Primo Tedesco S.A. Company started life in the decade of the 30's when Primo Tedesco built the first groundwood pulp mill, driven by a small turbine installed on the Peixe River in Caçador, in the west of Santa Catarina,.

In 1939, the company was set up with the name of Primo Tedesco and was later to become a large paper and packaging organization.

From the time of his arrival in Caçador, Primo Tedesco foresaw the need to preserve the region's forest reserves as a supply of raw material. As of the decade of the fifties, when native forests were being cut down, he planted pines and became the first to reforest the region. For this unprecedented feat, Primo Tedesco was awarded the title of Comendador da Ordem da Arvore. His work made it feasible to integrate the companies' activities led by paper-making.

Primo Tedesco's business units are comprised of electrical power generation, reforestation, pulp and paper production and corrugated box manufacture. Besides the industrial plant in Caçador, it owns plants in Santo Antônio do Planalto, Northwest of Rio Grande do Sul and Canoas, in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul and also has offices in São Paulo and Porto Alegre.

Thanks to its vertical integration, Primo Tedesco S.A. Is widely active in all segments of the pulp, paper and packaging markets in Brazil and the Mercosur, and also in the United States of America and Europe and is introducing its products with quality and safety.

While maintaining a focus on its core business, the company has emphasized those activities considered extremely important for the socioeconomic development of its business units, by making investments in technology, developing people and preserving the environment. This last has received special attention from the company, because it highly values its renewable resources, which is a clear demonstration of responsible growth. These efforts have paid off by benefiting the community as a whole.
